Yeah, I would always tip the cup when I hit the clutch, or it would get in the way of my steering.

I do occasionally do it when driving someone else's automatic transmission vehicle with power steering though. Good cupholders (or, cars with good cup holders) are hella hard to find. The only useful ones I can think of offhand are in the newer Mazda B-series trucks.
