Rather than open it up they were advised by factory service to simply replace it. Have had no problem with the replacement transmission.
Have owned 5 Accords and this is the second where I have had trouble with the AT. My '94 LX 4-door required a replacement transmission at about 20,000 miles because it downshifted momentarily into first [rather than second] after making "vigorous"right turns at intersections.
Honda is very good about fixing "out of warranty" items, expecially if the car has been serviced regularly by an authorized dealer and you can provide documentation.
Wow, i have a 94 accord lx with 88000 and for the 6 months ive had the car i havn't had any problems with the tranny. But beetlebomb, you bring up an interesting idea with your 94 accord lx problem. I noticed my tranny does the same thing when making hard right turns, the way it downshifts into 1st and revs up real high. But it only happens on this one street that i use on the way to school thats kinda on an uphill. Thats the only real problem ive ever noticed with my tranny (AT) and it only happens when i turn on that street. Do you guys think its something to worry about? Is there a recall or something for it?
