While McClintock may mean well, I disagree with his evaluation of the Controller's performance. It's an abomination of democracy itself for the state senators and assemblymen to shirk their duties, yet still collect grossly inflated paychecks, all the while ignoring the issue of budget shortfalls directly related to the energy contract debacle, and the decrease in business tax revenue following the dot-com slump.

I don't see where McClintock is getting his numbers; what is allowing him to realistically insinuate that the budget deficit isn't an issue here?
