i once lined up 3 different filters, proline, fram and car and driver and compaired them. they were identical, right down to a "Y" stamped just next to the seal. the only difference was the name and the price-$3.95 for fram and $1.99 for car and driver. i like the honda filter because of the anti drain back silicon valve, it helps keep the oil in the filter for filters installed horizontally. every now and then honda has them on sale for $4.95 each. mobil 1 filters i have seen for $9.995 each!!! i think we put too much importance on this stuff, any filter will do for daily driving. too much marketing has us running to pay four times what we should 'cause of a fancy box and flashy name. it may be slightly better for your car, but do you really need it and is it worth the extra cost????? i put 245k on an 85 honda, used the cheapest oil and filter i could find, changed them every 3500 miles and it ran great, right up until that tree got in my way.
