i myself would not do it though i have done 8 swaps in teh past 14 months (4 more to come in the next few months as well).
Again, very good point. I like a challenge so I would probably go for it because every challenge is a learning experience which will make you smarter and more informed in the end.
I will admit though that I've never done and obd swap but with the complete wire harness'(engine bay) and obd adapter harnes (at the ecu) I think it would be a fun challenge to take on with not too much of a headache. Basically if you've got an obd1 motor and ecu and you get the proper wire harness conversions then the only thing that is different is the subharness that runs between the bay through the firewall and into the cab right? Wouldn't you basically be converting the obdII car into an obdI car by putting in the obdI motor and ecu?
I know that is the case if you put an obdI motor and ecu in an obd car. You are then doing the reverse and converting an obd car into obdI.. and I know hasport has the conversion harness' for this.
Now if you are doing all of the wire conversions yourself then yes it would truly be a pain in the ars. But if you get the proper conversion harness' from hasport then it should be plug and play.
