I disagree. The lsvtec motor is not strong with a stock LS block. VTEC motors live at high rpm, and that is where the LS block fails. If you want to rev the LS block from 7500-8000 rpm on a daily basis reliably, which is where it will make good power, you cannot leave the LS block stock. At the least you need ARP rod bolts, the stock LS bolts like to stretch under high rpm stress. It's a good idea to also use the crank girdle from the GSR to keep the crank rigid at higher rpms, as well as install oil squirters like on the GSR to help cool and lubricate the wrist pin. If you want an lsvtec to be cheap, it will not be strong.
