All new cars/SUVs are required by law to have three brake lights. Which includes the "high brake light." This law is for NEW vehicles manufactured after a certain date ( I assume somewhere in the late 1980s). As long as one of the "high brake lights" work, either the spoiler or oem middle light, then you are complying with the law.
strang, you say "I assume somewhere in the late 1980s" and I understand your not sure about the date, but my 95 truck didnt have one or a spot for one and neither does my friends 97 truck... So 80's aint right, and early 90's isnt even right, maybe late 90's or starting around in 2000, but in FL there is No law that says 3 lights are required, its just the 2 are... Law simply states at least 2 or more..., think about it a bike does not even have 3... lol they have 2 and some even have one, hehe
