all 1157 bulbs are the same wattage... the number of the bulb tells what style bulb it is and what wattage. You can use 3497 bulbs though, which are basically the same bulb, but higher wattage, only problem with them is they are $7 a pair for regular replacement bulbs, compared to like $2 a pair for 1157.

a 1157 bulb is rated at 5 & 32 candlepower I believe, and a 3497 is 8 & 45. Not a huge difference, but it is noticable.
