If you take it to a corner garage, than you're going to get a "OEM" part for the local parts delivery place.
if you take it a Sears, or a similar store, you're going to get a wholesale "OEM" part that they bought in bulk, or a part from you local parts delivery store.
and if you take it to a dealership, you will not only get Honda Genuine Parts, but you still get RAPED for the name alone.
so that leaves doing it yourself. . . and then you have three options:
1) Get Honda Genuine Parts, and a bottle of KY for the "retail" price they charge.
2) Go the local parts store and get up to a 55% mark-up on parts for retail customers. most garages wil only get a 7-10% break off that.
or 3) Get performance parts off the internet for less money than it would cost in either the dealership or parts store.
*now i know that people always either "know someone" or "work somewhere" , shit that what started this whole thing. . . but for the regular consumer, those are really the only options.

Don't worry, you are preaching to the choir. Everything on my car I bought on the internet or at the local Honda parts dept (cause some things-the cheaper things like pads, fluids, bolts, etc- it's just easier to pick up than save pennies by hunting the internet) and installed myself on my car. (I did have to have an exhaust shop do my exhaust).
I didn't mean to start any big thing over this. For me, I chose OEM cause I didn't want the negative side effects of higher bite compound brake pads. Just saying what I chose and why I chose it is all. I never said OEM was better, I just said why I chose to use OEM. That's all. Sorry if you don't see my point of view. I'm glad you like your brake setup, that's all that matters.
