Yep. From the floor, I remember watching the tile floor literally roll in waves, like water. My mom comes up from the downstairs laundry, pissed as fawk, thinking I'm making all the rumbling noise by messing around. I yank her under the kitchen table and we rode it out together.
Shortly after the shaking stopped, we went down to the Safeway store to get some emergency provisions. On the way back, we stop along our street, and across the bay, an immense ball of flame rises from the Marina District, where that one structure was obliterated by a gas explosion, and the building to the North went from 4 stories to less than two. :eh:
Scary stuff when you're a kid. :shocked:
I formed an immense, lasting respect for nature on that day.
