Just because cars can pull similar numbers doesn't mean they are the same to drive. Test numbers mean very little at all, and the driving experience provided by a TL (even the new one) does not match that of a factory-tuned Bimmer that is a much smaller car with rwd. It's totally different, even if the numbers are close.
The Lincoln LS owns the BMW 540i in most measured tests, but one test drive reveals that you can tune any car to perform well in measured tests.
