I just got back from my mechanic who read the codes for why the transmission was slipping on my wifes 99 AV6. Basically it came down to 2 options. 1: flush transmission with some type of industrial tranny cleaner and then replace fluid. 2: Replace transmission and TC.

We have the Platinum Service Plan and the car is just shy of 60K. I've heard other horror stories of transmission problems with these models.

Any one ever heard anything like this?
