whats up everyone,

Well heres the deal, 98 gsr with 40k mi,
the car has bad cold start problems, it turns over fine but dies immediately. it will chug then die. I have to try to turn it over 5 or 6 times sometimes up to 9 times before it turns on and idles. WTf? a buddy of mine said it could be the CTS(coolant temp sensor going bad) what do you all think?
