You really should use the grease. You can use the Molykote stuff or just Permatex AntiSqueal that you can get at any Pep Boys. For $1.99, its worth it to precent possible noise.

Youll need a c-clamp for the front to compress the piston, and needlenose pliers/screwdriver for the rear to turn the piston in.

The grease goes on the back of the pad between the pads/shims. You dont need to reuse the shims either if you dont want to, although they will decrease noise as well. I am running no shims with greased Ultimates and they do squeal from time to time.
