I generally agree. But there's this fear that some people have that if some weirdo on the internet sees the car, they might be able to track you down and steal it since they might know a bit more about it. The same thing is true locally with the everyday lowlifes who see your plates but you often don't tell complete strangers about what you have in your car that isn't visible.

I think it really doesn't make that big of a difference. Most thefts I hear about don't happen because someone's plate was posted on the internet; their cars often stand out to thieves anyway. My car was stolen and I'm pretty sure it wasn't internet related. Some people just prefer to be extra cautious anyway.
