Actually, on the newer ones,, like mine, they dont Use your key anymore. The shop I went to was able to clone my chip from my ignition key, and its a little black box somewhere under my dash. Its hooked up to a relay thay only sends power through it when the remote start is activated using the remote. My Immobilizer still works 100%. I tried using a spare key without a chip and it would not start. I think it depends on the system you use, and the quality of the shop doing the install.
