I thought I ran pretty slow. I got 17.161, 17.587 and 17.099. For what was running with is that ok? This was my first time.
Will I do much better if I run my stock steelies with a low psi?
My 60' were 2.557, 2.532 and 2.428. I spun my tires two times when I launched at 5000rpms, the first time i launched around 3900 or 4000 and the car bogged down a little thats why I upped the rpms for the launch.

Any advice on how I can improve my times with what I have? In time ill be doing more engine work.

your 60 foot is raping your ass hard...with a 2.2 you'd be solidly in the 16's. What was your trap speed? Did you lower your tire pressure to like 20-22 psi? When i had i/h/e on my ex i launched about 4500 at the track and pulled 2.2-2.25 all day long. A good launch is better than a boatload of boltons on an EX. With my current setup i pulled consistent 2.1 60 foots on my steelies and stock 175/65/14 dead firestones.

Make sure you heat up your tires, don't go through the water just pull the ebrake and heat em up for a good 3-5 seconds it helps a LOT.

When you launch don't just mash the gas and dump the clutch, you'll always spin. When you're staging rev up to your launch rpm and let the clutch out halfway (right to the point before it will engage at all) Then when the light turns green give it about 3/4 gas and let the clutch out so it catches, you'll start to spin up a little which is good. If you start to bog give it more gas and let the clutch out some more but do it all in SMALL INCREMENTS (i can't stress how important that is on the launch) When you hook up stomp the gas and let the clutch out completely.

oh yah, ditch the 17's they will KILL your times at the track. Just put your steelies or some smaller wheels on and lower your tire psi

good luck.
