all close but not that close. The best way to do it is indeed to use your spare key. You take a piece of wire wrap it around the ignition, about two feet out take one end of the wire and wrap it around the key, then take the end of the wire wrapped around a key and put it to pin 30 on a relay, take the other end from the ignition and put it to 87A, then put it the coil from the relay to one of the aux power outputs from the remote start and you're all set. Wrap it all up, use some split loom to hide it, then stuff it somwhere away from the ignition. Then that key will only be used when the car starts.

or you can get one of these that learns the key http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=14934 and you won't need one again. It learns how the transponder talks to the key, and then replicates it when you remote start.
