Cut your trunk release cable. Disabling that thing keeps someone from popping the trunk, and gaining access to your vehicle without the alarm sounding.

I've watched someone coat-hanger that thing before on an integra. If it were cut, they'd have been SOL. You can still get into the trunk with a key. If you get a trunk popper on your alarm, then by all means remove that thing entirely.

As for riveting amps to things... Don't bother doing it unless you're riveting it to a solid structural part of your car. Fook: If I were a thief, I'd take the whole seat-back. I don't think I'd use tools to carefully remove it, either.

I rely on the old stereo-ain't-worth-stealing routine. Use your stock deck, and make the rest of your system totally invisible. If you ever let anyone but yourself work on your car, pull all the fuses from your amps so that it doesn't work, and remember that the 1 gauge wire kit under your hood is a direct giveaway that there's something worth stealing in your car.

I never give my address to any mechanics or service centers. I give them a fake if they demand it. There was a Jiffy Lube here in Richmond that was busted for what CivicSiRacer was describing.

My windows are tinted, not to keep eyes off of my factory deck, but because I don't want to be recognized driving this busted-ass fart box.
