An easy method is to remove the small metal flywheel panel that protects it from debris located beneath the engine. I pinned a fat screwdriver in there between the flywheel teeth and used the oil pan and header (if I remember right) to pin it in place. Taking a BFH to the socket wrench broke it loose with a couple of smacks.
