a v6 still has a valve cover...but....

i would run the engine for a while(wait till u drive somewhere on the interstate), then check the temperature of that plastic afterwards....if its cool to the touch, meaning you can leave your hand on it without burning yourself. Then a modern paint will do for that, i would use an oil based paint.
