See the book "The Gentle Swaztika" by Manwoman. The symbol is actually a sign of good fortune and love. It's been used for thousands and thousands of years in religions as varied from Christianity to Zaoism. The earliest Christian symbols were the Swaztika. Der Fuhrer used this symbol as it contrasted everything he stood for and wanted the shock value.
