Go for the minamalist look.

My apartment had blue carpet, so I went for blue, black, and brushed aluminum, and had light oak table & chairs, and light oak computer desk. IMO it's better to have a few things that match than a bunch of stuff that is just thrown together. Most people will appreciate the sense of style & class, especially the females.
