fill your tank......reset your trip odometer....drive it till its close to empty....write down how many gallons it took to fill it back up....write down your mileage.....divide the miles recorded by the amount of fuel it took to refuel it...end result is your average mpg
That's what I was about to suggest
You cannot go by how many total miles you do, you gotta do the simple math
