Another reason the driving laws in this country need to be rewritten..... in Germany, she would have gotten a 1 year suspension for causing an accident while proceeding with an illegal motion. That is an on the spot, non-negotiable law (which Germany has many of in reguards to driving) that not even the best defense attorney could get you off the hook for. Consider this: 3 DUI's in five years in Germany and you have your driving privilages revoked for life, and if you are caught driving ever again there is a minimum 6 month jail time. Tickets are based on your income, (there have been fines for the very rich of over 10,000 DM or about $7500.00 for a ticket that would cost 120.00 here.) And every 2 miles or so on the Autobahn there is a video camera with 1000 X zoom and 300 degree radius..... so pretty much every thing is recorded and the truth will eventually be shown in court. Too bad the U.S. is chock full of air heads on the road..... this could be a much safer place, and not to mention the ability to drive at higher speeds (with responsability comes more freedoms)
