but what it sounds like you're saying is that you're happy more innocent people died... the japanese military killing innocent people was no worse than the us killing innocent japanese people... and cheering that they did is just ****ed up.

i'm not saying that killing japanese people is good, not then, not now. nor that an eye for an eye is the solution to the world's problems. but that the dropping of the atomic bombs was more than justified by the actions the japanese took during WWII. the US knew that an assault on the main islands of japan would result in more than 1 million casualties... but beside that, the fact that they slaughtered probably millions of innocent people is enough justification. i don't think any of the people involved in the atrocities were ever brought to justice. the doctors that did the experiments on POWs and civilians were all granted immunity by the US in return for the data obtained from their "research". the upper level military leaders might have been sent to court, and some of them punished or executed, but a VERY small number. nothing even close to the nuremburg trials for the nazis. to this day the japanese government still has not apologized. they have said that they did it, but that is all. they've never compensated anyone (save a few individual american POWs), they've never acknowledged their own savagry. they even change their own god damn text books so that japanese children will not learn the truth. one of my japanese friends in high school was in denial, even after living in the US for seven or eight years.
