I have nothing more than a set of metric sockets and my roomate's torque wrench... no special tools. Would 'lower' the transmission be a better term? It's really not hard, I don't know what everyone is so worked up about . You will never learn if you don't try. That's the joy of working on cars isn't it? If you reach a point and can't continue, go back to the beginning and then take it to a shop, at least you tried or succeeded and can say yeah I did that myself!
