I had this idea to take my oil pan off next time i change my oil to get every little peice of metal shaving out of there so it doesnt keep recirculating itself.

In my haynes manual it says to use lacquer thinner or acetone to clean out the surface of the oil pan, ummm are either of those going to leave behind anything harmful that will get in my oil and either mess up the oil or the seals and stuff?

Also whats RTV sealant it wants me to use, and it says only to use it on certain parts of the gastket and the matting points on the oil pump to block, i dont understnd what this is for, any info?
