Well, some really are gay. I think the problem is that many have unrealistic expectations. We can do almost anything in terms of environmental restoration, but it costs money and no one is really willing to pay for it because they don't believe they have any responsibility in the matter. We can make improvements, but we'll probably never get to the point that the hardcore environmentalists want us to be.
Some extreme environmentalists think the country should revert to complete wildlife. I think most just want to make sure we don't pave over everything and turn the planet into a desert. Personally, I don't think our government places a high enough priority on the environment and energy conservation.
