that's true for the most part, however good reputable places sometimes try to cheat you if you dont seem to know what you're talking about. remeber, be picky as hell when you drop the car off, and when you pick it up. when you drop it off, leave the interior and exterior in immaculate condition, and when you pick the car up, if you're not satisfied, tell them and they will most likely at least touch it up a bit. also.....unless you pay thousands and thousands, no paint job will be as good as factory. there will always be a few drips (only visible in the sunlight probably) and a few oversprays, or uneven coats. if they dont strip the car down to metal (it should be, but costs a crapload of $$) then it'll chip a lot easier when an acorn or something hits it.
im very anal, so there really is no "really good" paintjob for me. one imperfection and it bothers me. you should be able to find a middle-range paintjob for around 1.5-2 g's.
dont get maaco, the paint looks kindof dull and peels very easily, and most of the people that work there dont give two shits about your car. dont let their really low prices fool you...unless you dont care about what your car looks like in 6 months, dont get maaco.
that's about it. can you tell i've had my car painted before?? hehe. anyways, look around and ask around at local speedshops and stuff. word of mouth is the way to go. good luck!!!
