Default bad mechanic

I just got my car back from the shop and had the timing belt, water pump and crank seal replaced. The motor is shifting when it is placed in gear. This car has been to two different shops before I got it back because the 2 mechanics at the 1st shop couldn't seem to get it right. At the 2nd shop where the mechanic seems to know what he's doing he told me that the 1st shop screwed up my block. The 2nd shop had to replace the head and basically rebuild the engine with new gaskets and the whole 9 yards. The 1st shop covered the work the 2nd shop did because it was the mechanics fault. WHen I was at the 2nd shop the mechanic tells me that my engine block is screwed up where the side motor mount bolts into the engine ( according to him it's the middle lower bolt and the higher bolt closer to the firewall) and he hands me 3 pieces of my block one which has threads on it. He tells me to sell the car becuase I won't be able to fix the car without replacing the engine. Now when I drive my car it feels like something is rubbing. Now this is the 3rd mechanic that has worked on my car. The 1st 2 couldn't complete the work and when they did the car quit running and this ruined my head and bent some push rods and valves. IS there any other fix for this besides replacing the motor. Ive asked a few different people around here and some say put a heater coil in it or something that sounds simular to a heater coil. I'm really considering consulting an attorney because I cannot stand to drive my car anymore because I'm worried the way the car is running now with the fear that I'll ruin the motor or the transmission. Any help with this is appreciated, I'm not a happy about this and just want my car fixed correctly. Do I need to take this guy to small claims court or what?
