I think the correct term in your case would be rounded. That sucks though. Here are a few things you might want to try...

-hammer a tight fitting socket onto the nut/bolt.
-or just cut the nut/bolt off.
-or use a dremel and turn the nut/bolt head into a squarelike shape. Then use a wrench on it.
