My father was a pilot, and was so for 30 years. He was only in one crash that had a fatality, and that's cause he was an engineer on a DC-10 in alaska at the time... he made it out with a broken leg.

You are more in danger driving your car than flying.

Don't worry about it. Once you get past take-off... it will be fine! Take off is the most fun part, IMO, but it can unnerve some people...
