To continie was CJamie was saying, you can call Honda of America's customer relations number with your VIN at hand, and they will be able to tell you if and when the oil seal was replaced under the recall back in 2000/2001. The recall has long been expired, but if it hasnt been done (chances are it has, however) then I strongly recommend getting it done asap, if this seal fails.. you will suddenly lose oil and cause your engine to fail (before you have time to even know what is going on) Also, all 96-97 Honda vehicles are covered under a 14 year, 150,000 mile emissions extended warranty. Your local dealership will provice you with a two page list of everything that is covered under this 'recall/warranty extension' it also entitles you to free tune-ups from 75,000 miles all the way up to 150,000 miles or 14 years. I don't have the list on hand, but a few of the many things covered are spark plug wires, spark plugs, distributor, distributor cap/rotor, all sensors, fuel system, catylitic and A-pipe, and anything that sets off the Service Engine Soon Light. If this light ever appears, your Honda dealer will diagnose it for free and repair the part at fault, free of charge. Here is the actual article on the issue -
