I don't understand how you can go from park into reverse but not back into park. When in park does the shift button go all the way down. Did you reinstall the stock spring? None of the stock shifter assembly should have been removed.
Not to bust your bubble but it should not have been this hard. You might regret it sooner then I think.
It really doesn't pay to modify such things when OEM is better.
