vacuum probs , and ig timing
#1 i replaced my intake with a skunk 2 and jg 65mm TB......there does not seem to be any leaks there or in the lines......is there A) a way to test for that (i'm getting 15 '' of mercury where before i got 21'') is it possible that this ammount is correct for a larger setup (the stock gsr man has dual rails - secondary's open after rpms build) this is very much like a type r manifold , but is specified for my car. if it WERE getting air from somewhere wouldnt the rpms be high at idle ? is there anything else that could be responsible for a loss as large as 7'' ? i did some experimenting and it seems as though it would take a huge hole to cause THAT kind of loss.
#2 i never had the timing set until i needed to change it to 14 btdc for a new hondata ecu. upon looking for the marks i discovered my accesory pully came with none - so a week later i have a replacement and throw a gun on it.....with the distributor slammed to the back of the car the gun says it's 5-7 degrees advanced....std is 14-16-18.....having trouble buying that this could be the case....car runs ok , but it is not timed correctly , i am running forced induction of 10+ lbs , but have yet to see them as the car has these two probs and most likely a fuel map prob in the ecu. what the hell other than my own stupidity could cause me to see these type of #'s....besides it shouldnt have to move ALL THE WAY just to get normal timing.
