Most cars with double a-arms like pre-2001 Civics have shocks. Keeps the wheels/tires more planted on the ground. Whereas the strut is part of the suspension that it is integrated into the a-arms.
strut bars is a bar that attaches to the top of shock/strut. regardless shocks and struts serve the same function, so you essentially bought two of the same thing.
