Default Premo fuel manditory in Si?

I've been drooling over a new Si for a while now, but just got the shock of my life when a salesman told me the Si requires Premo (highest grade) fuel. I've owned several Hondas, been driving, and working on them in my garage for years. I've never heard of a Honda engine that REQUIRED premo fuel. But then again, I've never owned an Si or S2000.

Not having a owners manual to confirm, I thought I would ping the owners themselves.

Is this true? If so, that would suck! High grade gas is back up to $3/gallon and going up every day!

Yes. 91 octane is the minimum requirement.
It is required due to the high static compression of the motor.

But when you consider the size of the Civic SI petrol tank, you're only looking at another $2.00 ± per tankful.

The return on that small investment is huge.

Premium gas is the only way to go. Like TheOtherDave said it's only a few bucks per tank.

Default Yea, I'm a cheapass

And I'm freaking proud it! A penny saved is a penny earned and all that jazz.

I bought a Grey, 07 EX Coupe with navi + bluetooth, and I probably won't pay for the XM when the free trial period ends!

It had 6 miles on it last night. It has 111 miles on it now.

I love this freaking car!

Yes its very tue - 91 at minimum. I also own a 2000 Si and it was the same with that car. If you dont like it - buy an EX
