Default cat converter

i still have my original catylitic converter with an upgraded intake, header, and exhaust system on a 98 civic ex...my question would be is it woth it to get a racing cat and will i be able to pass e-check if i do? thanks

you wont pass e-check with a race cat but you will with a high performance cat. but you could just switch your old cat back when you go to e-check then put the race one on after you pass. a race cat will give you a check engine light though.

man i live in dayton ohio nd i hate echeck,..becuase of echeck i have to register both my cars in a different county that doesnt do echeck,..a high flow cat will pass echeck,..a race cat wont

new cars already have really free flowing cats. It would be a complete waste of money to get a racing cat. The amount of horsepower a racing cat will add wont be very noticable. Why not just spend the money on mods that will get you better gains? If you want hp, build your engine. Don't waste time with stupid bolt ons.

actually it made a big difference in my low end and even more from 5500 rpms to 8200 rpms. you feel vtec engage alot more. i now run close to 14.9 and i havent even installed my intake manifold or 4-1 header. so from my experience i noticed a differenc on my car. im sure he will if he gets one.

my throttle response got a little crisper with my race cat.
