Default My new autocross wheels and tires...

This friday I am picking up my

15 X 7 Rota Slipstreams Black
They have Kuhmo Ecsta V700 205/50-15 mounted on them.

If I run these on the street all the time how long do you think they will last for?

They may last a while but you will heat cycle out all of the grip.

And why would you run V700s on the street? Kind defeats the purpose of having R tires. But yeah you would heat cycle out the rubber quick by running them everyday. The rubber would dry up and loose grip within a week or two. Kind of a waste of money and R tires.

Why did you get the V700s? They really suck!

I would run toyo RA-1 on the road but not the v700. also i believe the v700 needs to be shaved in order to use them for autox.

From what I've heard that the RA1s are more durable than the V700s. And the fact that the RA1s are more of a road racing compound whereas the V700s are autocross compound.

There's a difference between heat cycling them to make them sticky and then heat cycling them til they get rock hard. Driving them on the road will heat cycle them til they get rock hard.

I don't think you should have gotten R tires if you don't understand how to take care of them.

R tires are made for competition events, e.g., autocross. Why on earth would you want to run these on the street?

You can run some R tires on the street. Yokohama A032Rs, Toyo RA1s. I ran A032Rs back in 1998-1999. Fun on highway ramps

Hey I got the above setup for $600 bucks, used. They had only two events on them. I bought them from a guy I know who autocrosses. I mainly bought the wheels but he said he would throw the tires in for $200 more I said ok, since my motegis with yoko parada spec 2s were way worn. I am not asking if I should run them on the street, I know you shouldn't if you want them to last forever, I am simply asking your opinion on how long you think they will last. I didn't buy r compounds to run on the street I bought some wheels which came with almost new r compounds mounted on them, and I don't have money to buy another set of tires right now, so I am going to run them on the street for awhile, besides I will be running my snow wheels and tires soon, so I am just getting through to winter. I am sorry you think I am an idiot who doesn't know what the hell I am doing, I came asking for help and instead I get treated like crap.
