when your car drives like $hit...
Its hard to say because it can be anyhting since your ECU controls almost everything on your car
IE: ABS (BRAKES), FUEL MAP(FUEL), ETC....

What is the car doig that would make you think it is the ecu?

Its pretty rare that an ecu would go out.....only reasons I could think of really are that the ecu got soaked somehow (rare and nearly impossible) or you had a major power surge through your car.

It happens but it is so amazingly rare that I wonder if it is your ecu or possibly just a timing issue or electrical short somewhere in the car.

well , it wants to start whenever it wants to intermittenly maybe once in 5 days. whenever it doesnt start it has no SPARK. when it does it sparks on all 4 cylinders. ive done the obvious , changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, swapped distributors. what ya think?
u think its rare?

You have also checked all your fuses as well?

Do you have a friend close by with an Accord of the sae generation that you could take his ECU and plug it into your car? or perhaps a local tuner shop you are friendly with to test this out?

I dunno I have only ever heard of ECUs going out for extreme reasons...never just randomly failing:dunno:

Not so rare if you are dumb like me. There was one time where I left my 89 Legend coupe out in the rain with the sunroof open and the autotranny wouldnt shift out of 1st no matter what i did. A few days later when the car dried out, everything was fine. Dunno what the deal was with that exactly, I cant recall where the ECU is in that car. . .
