Most of the time the powered substations use weak amps and do not fully power the sub. It's better to save your money and buy a non-powered sub and a good quality amp. Check out some of the d-class amps for the most bang for the buck.

These systems are designed for people who are on a budget, who do not know much about car stereo, and who want quick drop-in style bass. They are not designed for any kind of SQ or SPL competition. They will all sound very similar, so an Inifity basslink will not be killing a Kicker powered substation or vice versa. Besides, if you compare the 2 companies, I'd say that Kicker is a far better maunufacturer (quality & reputation) of car audio that Infinity.
