gsr downshift ??
Hey guys
My manual tranny in my 94 gsr has been giving me some problems.
1. I can't downshift into 2nd, unless I revv it up and then sometimes, only sometimes will it will go into gear.
2. ALSO, When shifting at a high speed the tranny always grinds, i know I have the clutch to the floor...???? WHY?? The fluid is good and up to level, and the clutch is almost brand new!!
I've done some searching would that synchrmesh stuff work, should I adjust the clutch pedal
What would you reccomend?

Did you replace the clutch yourself? Did you adjust the pedal after doing so?
Synchro's may be on their way out. Synchromesh is a band aid solution, but it might help for a while. Replacing them is very costly, usually a used tranny will be much cheaper, unless your willing to do the labor yourself. Its not too terribly hard if you have access to feeler gauges and a press.

If the clutch contact is close to the floor u shud be able to adjust it to fix this. Remove the plunger from the clutch pedal and make it longer. It will just screw out.

also, a bad clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder could be your problem. getting a new clutch only heightens the issue of what you're going through.
but the fact that you said high rpm grinding, is most likely the synchros

can I add a qt and mix it with the present fluid, use only, would i have to drain some fluid out?
what route do you guys reccomend?

I wouldn't mix old and new fluid...also, transmission fluid isn't hugely expensive, so it would be worth your money (if you don't have the money for a new tranny) to just replace all of the fluid in the transmission. Check out this tutorial for some pretty easy steps to help you change the tranny fluid.
One other thing to check would be to see if your clutch master cylinder is leaking fluid anywhere, cause that could cause those kinds of issues...
