Default i need a professional opinion

hey everyone, i'm new to this site and i have a quick question. i recently bought a 1998 honda civic ex for $400. the body is straight and the interior is in excellent condition(other than a good cleanin) anyhow, it has an injen air intake, koenig reason rims with general exclaim tires. it has been lowered some. there was a carbon fiber hood but it flew off or shattered or somethin. anyways he drove it in the rain without a hood(smart huh?) when i start the car there is a loud knockin from the engine. i dont know much if anything about imports but ive always been fascinated by them. i figured this would be a good starter for me. i plan on gettin a new engine for it. can anyone tell me what is wrong.....and did i get a decent deal? any reply is greatly appreciated.

400 bucks is decent.

hmotorsonline.com - why look anywhere else? Sometimes a few bucks more than other places, but you get what you pay for. They have a very nice selection, and multiple B18C's if thats what your looking for...

if it's a knock, as in rod knock then your bottom end is most likley fucked & you'll be replaceing everything down there, meaning cheaper to swap. If it's a tick comming from the head, thats adjustable most of the time.

Anyways, as far as buying a b18c from hmotorsonline for 3500 bux, you've got to be out of your freakin mind. I could buy a running b18b motor for 400 bux, forged the bottom end for 700 & stick studs & new gaskets on it for another 200 bux.. at that point u've got 1300 into a forged motor, spend 1500 putting together a turbo kit & make a 11sec car for under the 3500 that u are telling this guy to spend buying a b18c!

some of you people need to sit around here & read a little more!
