Default Another oil change question

I know Im gonna get flamed on this but I have to ask, and no, i didnt do a search. :noes: I have put 3k miles on my car since the last oil change yet when I check the oil life indicator it reads 60%.

So what should I do, I have instilled in my brain to change oil after every 3k miles but again the indicator is still reading 60%.

Do I change it or go by the indicator??

Dude you need to search more and read your owner's manual. Oil changes every 3k mile are a waste.

Yup... cars built in the last 10 years are good for 5000 miles. IN most cases 7500 or 10,000 miles is fine depending on driving conditions.

You can probably get away with 5-6K+ but I'm still stuck in the old school mind-set of every 3K. Of course, I inevitably wind up going to 3.5-5K.

for those who said car is good for 7K without oil change....
have you "actually" went to see inside the engine... Not engine oil .. Engine.
Tell me how it looks like....
It all depends on what kinda car you're talking about..... but I do my oil change Max 3,000 miles no matter what. oil changes also saves your gas mileage as well. I'm sticking my way. You also know why one of the reason ppl's spark plugs gets messed up as well? Good Oils helps to lessen the Friction from piston wall to the other side of the wall. (will help avoid from overheating)

It looks pretty damn good. Every 30k my spark plugs come out looking perfect, and I once had an oil analysis one on 8k old Syntec 5W-30 oil. They told me I could have run it twice as long.

It all depends on what kinda car you're talking about
Yes and no. But mainly no. Oils need to be changed because they gradually lose their lubricating and protection properties over time. Today's leading synthetic oils have been proven to not lose any lubricating properties until 15-20k miles.

Read above. If your oil's lubricating properties aren't deteriorating, you're basically going to be throwing away good oil every 3k miles and replacing it with good oil. If you don't believe me, spend the $25 to get an oil analysis done on your 3k old oil. It'll tell you exactly how your engine is wearing and how long your oil is lasting.

like I said, do whatever you want =] I'm sticking my way. Maybe I'm just clean biatch who likes to look cleaner than it suppose to
I'm not saying you're wrong, lately, dealer's normal oils can go 5k.
but then again, it depends how you drive the car.
I appreciate your comment
