Default third and fifth gears grinding

im really new to this. i have no problem starting off, but the transition from second to third come at over 7000 rpm, the gears scratch before it catches ( same thign happens as i put it into fifth at high revs too). i cringe whenever i hear it, even when i drop it into third from 65. my brother says it may be the gearbox but im not too sure. what problems am i lookign at?

syncro's.
Try changing your tranny fluid with honda MTF and give that a shot. The last owner may have used some cheap fluid.
I know when I changed my tranny fluid to redline it caused my gears to grind (don't recall what gears as it was a long time ago) because it lubricates so well. I changed back to honda mtf and solved the problem.
