Default newbie 2nd gen owner, what should I look out for?

So I picked up this 91 GS automatic for $400 today. Yeah, you can all laugh at me because it's a slushbox, but oh well. Basically, what should I look out for in the 2nd gen that's different from the 3rd gen, which I know and love? I know it's obd-0 and has a B18A and that's about it.

Welcome to the teg world. I don't care if it is an auto that looks like a good price. There is another site specifically for our second gen cars. http://www.g2ic.com/ You might check it out as well. There is lots of info around just do alot of reading and enjoy.

Beware of the first generation ABS system that it might have. It is a very expensive fix if it breaks, and a fairly difficult conversion to non-ABS if you would rather rip it out.

G2IC.com is the end-all place to be for any G2 owner.

They act pretty much like a 3G, except the headlights look 100x better. The factory fogs are a nice touch too. If you care about looks at all, the 92-93 bumpers and taillights have a little more visual appeal then the 90-91 version. Enjoy your "new" G2!

Yeah, the ABS light is on, but oh well. Brakes fine to me, though I'm sure that I'll want the ABS system operative for winter. Can't seem to get the hub nut off with a breaker though. We had 750 lbs of force on a 60" pipe and it still would barely move. Looks like another trip to the stealer may be in order unless someone has air tools with the sockets locally.

If you want to have the dealer fix the ABS, be sure to bring the lube. I was quoted at $1500 plus labor to fix it. I didn't, and I totaled the car a few weeks later in an accident the ABS system may have saved me from. I'll never know for sure though.

Besides the normal things you'd look out for on a
10+ year old car like rust, worn bushings, suspension
etc...

Heres a few problems that I had when I bought my g2.
They were basically all cosmetic...

Window rattle, there's no frame so this is common.
Water leaking in trunk through tails...
Water leaking in pass floor through windshild sill.
Bouncing tach...
