Default 98 Gsr??

How's everyone doing? Fine I hope. This my question. I still have my oem exhaust. Where the cat. converter is but,6 inches back the heat shield is split & rattling like crazy. Can I get away with not using that shield w/ out any heating issues.
Thanks

technically you can, but you might feel extra heat around your armrest/shifter area.

Mine was like that when I bought the car. I took it off and never looked back.

Other than a little extra heat under the armrest you should be fine with removing the shield all together.

i was concerned about that myself, so i first secured it with hose clamps. i eventually gave up after it would eventually start rattling again and removed the heatshield altogether.

like joe said, there's a little extra heat under the armrest, otherwise it has been no issue.

Glad to know. It'll be like that for a while until I can get the money for a cat back exhaust.

Just don't use a metal shift knob either or you'll be fucked when it comes to shifting.

I have the titanium ITR knob. It's not hot unless in the sun several hrs. It's garaged. Yeah, the rattling is annoying

Keep in mind that a cat back exhaust system won't offer any solution to the problem, unless you are buying a high flow or new cat at the same time.

You might try sourcing a replacement heat sheild from junkyard, or online somewhere if the heat bothers you.

Jesus guys the heat isn't going to be this dramatic! Trust me, you'll barely notice any difference if you don't pay attention.
