Default B18 swap for 84' CRX is it possible...

A friend of mine says we can do a B18 swap for my 84' crx, he says we just need to get a tranny for it... First what transmition would we need for it (what car comes with this tranny) and second wouldnt i need new motor mounts (where could i get these) and i would have to convert from carburated to MPFI right? (where could i get the kit to make that possible)
Any other info on this swap would be helpfull, thnx

My crx is an 84' 5-spd 1.5

haport or place racing motor mounts.
if you have the b18 you should have gotten the tranny with it.most places
wont sell the motor with out the tranny online.any b series tranny will work.
its possible but i wouldnt waste my time on such and old crx, unless its in perfect shape and is super clean.

B18? As in B18A, B, or C? A 90-91 B18A would be the easiest.

MPFI kit? Haha, get real. If you want to convert to MPFI, you need to get a lot of parts from an 85-87 CRX Si to do it. Or, you could get a custom manifold to use a carb on the B18*.

Any B-series trans would bolt up to your B18*, but I would recommend a cable B16A trans. If you want a hydro trans, you need to spend even more for a cable/hydro conversion kit.

That's all in addition to custom mounts (~$550,) custom axles (~$350,) a custom reworked wiring harness (~$250,) and a custom shift linkage (~$150.)

If the engine you're using isn't OBD-0, you need to convert it to be. It's easy with your new $250 custom harness.

I considered the swap in an '87 Civic Si I used to have, and calculated it out to be around $2500 doing all the labour myself. For a non-Si, figure on $3000+ and a few more days of work.

When it is done though, the car would be stupid fast... if you can keep traction. Add in a set of good tires, ~$350.

All of what Kai Is saying is absouletly right! I belive most f the custom things can be found at Hasport for arund the same price He stated above. But I disagree with Phobia...If you got the Crx and you got the engine and other parts then go ahead and do it... I see A LOT of ld CRX's tearing up the track... they are light as shit...me persnally I hate the way the look and wouldn't own one (I perfer the 88-91 crx) But if you like the style then go ahead and d it...any swap is possile as long as you got the time and money (mostly money!) My suggestion is go to Hasport.cm and look at the prices of the mounts,axels,harness,linkage..etc.. And see if you can afford to do it. Good Luck and Have fun!

true,i hate the old body crx's thats why i sed that except for the old school si.
what ever you do do it right the first time.dont cut corners because your going to pay for it later.like for instance motor mounts,if i was you i would get one of 2 brands 1.hasport 2.lpace racing. there are lots of people out there "ebay" just trying to make a buck at your expense.good luck
