The Altima will feel like a plastic factory when you sit in it. Also, they look waaaaay too "Pontiac G6 Coupe" for my liking.

Either way, both will be absolutely awful for their first model run. If you get an 08 version of either car, you'll have regular dealer time scheduled.

While true that Nissan did use a lot of hard plastics in the past, their new Altima uses A LOT of soft material plastics that are of high quality. The new Altima, I would say, is a little more upscale (as far as materials go) on the inside when compared to the current Accord...and as for the 2008 Accord, well no one can tell.

It depends on the direction Honda and Nissan go, but one of the biggest reasons I bought an Accord over an Altima or Maxima last time (I had a '93 Accord and a '94 Altima before) is due to mpg. While Nissan makes some powerful engines, they also guzzle gas compared to most Honda's. I get nearly 35mpg on average in my '99 Accord. I'm not sure their new generation sentra could even get that, let alone the Altima. Maybe an older one but not the newer one. I doubt Nissan will improve their economy in their new gen Altima's. They've really been hitting on performance, not economy. But if they do, I'll take a look. If not, I don't really care what the inside or out looks like.

2006 NISSAN ALTIMA ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Recall Date: 06/21/2006

Summary:
CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.5L ENGINES MAY EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION AS A RESULT OF IMPROPER PERFORMANCE OF THE PISTON RINGS.

Consequence:
IF THE OIL IS NOT MAINTAINED AT LEAST AT THE MINIMUM LEVEL, ENGINE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR AND IN EXTREME CASES RESULT IN AN ENGINE FIRE.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM OR ENGINE COMPUTER). YOUR VEHICLE WILL ALSO BE INSPECTED TO DETERMINE IF IT HAS BEEN CONSUMING ENGINE OIL AT A HIGHER THAN NORMAL RATE. IN A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF VEHICLES, ENGINE REPLACEMENT WILL BE NEEDED. ON JUNE 9, 2006, NISSAN NOTIFIED OWNERS OF THE POSSIBILITY OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND THE IMPORTANCE OF MAINTAINING THE OIL AT A PROPER LEVEL. FOLLOW-UP LETTER TO OWNERS ADVISING THEM OF THE STATUS OF THE RECALL WAS SENT DURING AUGUST 2006. FOLLOWUP LETTER TO OWNERS WAS SENT ON NOVEMBER 15, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

Potential Units Affected: 85000

Notes: NISSAN ALTIMA

I'm sure Nissan fixed that problem for 2007...they did, however, mess up with their air filter...but that was on recall so they fixed that too.

Default Why buy an Altima Coupe

If you are looking at the Altima Coupe, why not just by the Z? The coupe and Z cost about the same price and the Z has more horsepower.

..couldn't agree more. But which V-6 is going into the '08 Accord? VCM IIRC points to the 3.5 (like Pilot/Odessey).........

cheers (and time for a Crown Royal/rocks as evening shadows lengthen.......)

..ez..
